My Morning
My name is Tom. I am thirty-one years old. I live in a flat on the third floor. My flat is small but comfortable. It has a bedroom, a kitchen, a bathroom, and a living room. I like my flat very much.
I wake up every morning at seven o'clock. My alarm is loud. I do not like the alarm, but I need it. Without the alarm, I sleep until nine o'clock. That is too late.
First, I go to the bathroom. I wash my face with cold water. The cold water wakes me up. Then I brush my teeth. I brush for two minutes. My dentist says two minutes is important. After that, I have a shower. The shower is hot. I stand in it for a long time. It is very nice.
Then I get dressed. I choose my clothes the night before. This saves time in the morning. I usually wear grey trousers and a blue shirt. I have five blue shirts. They are all the same. This is easier.
Now it is time for breakfast. Breakfast is my favourite meal. I go to the kitchen and put the kettle on. Then I take bread from the cupboard. I have two pieces of bread. I put them in the toaster. While I wait, I make tea. I put the tea bag in the cup and add hot water. I add a little milk. I do not add sugar.
The toast is ready. I put butter on both pieces. I eat the first piece slowly. I look out of the window. I can see the street below. In the morning, people walk past quickly. They have coats on. Some have coffee cups in their hands.
I eat the second piece of toast and drink my tea. This takes about fifteen minutes. I am not in a hurry. I like a quiet breakfast.
Then I wash my cup and plate. I put them on the shelf. I do this every day. I do not like a dirty kitchen.
At half past seven, I put on my coat and my shoes. I take my bag. It has my work things inside. My laptop, my notebook, and my lunch. I make my lunch in the evening. Today I have a sandwich and an apple.
I lock my door and walk down the stairs. I do not use the lift. The stairs are better for my health. I walk out of the building and into the street.
The bus stop is five minutes from my flat. I walk there every day. In winter, it is cold and dark. In summer, it is warm and bright. I like summer mornings best.
The bus comes at eight o'clock. Sometimes it is late. I wait and look at my phone. I read the news or listen to music. I have small white headphones.
The bus is usually full. I sometimes find a seat and sometimes I stand. The journey takes about twenty minutes. I look out of the window at the buildings and the people. The city is busy in the morning. Everyone is going somewhere.
I get off at the central stop. My office is three minutes from there. I walk quickly because the morning air is cold. I say hello to the woman at the reception desk. Her name is Sandra. She always smiles.
I go to my desk and put down my bag. I make another cup of tea in the office kitchen. Then I sit down and begin my work.
I like my morning routine. It is the same every day. Some people find this boring. But I like it. A good morning makes the whole day better.
